Temporary pause to non-urgent blood test service

Between Wednesday 1st October and Friday 3rd October we will be unable to offer non-urgent blood tests at this practice.

This is not unique to our practice as other practices in the area are affected too. The pause is due to our local hospital trust, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, upgrading the patient record systems that process blood results. Once complete, the upgrade will support a more joined-up service across the area.

We expect services to return to normal from Monday 6th October.

We understand this may be frustrating and apologise for the disruption. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Mounjaro for Weight Loss

You may have seen recent media reports stating that GPs can now prescribe weight-loss injections like Mounjaro. While this is true nationally, in our area (Suffolk and North East Essex), GPs are not commissioned to provide these medications directly for weight loss. Instead, the local NHS has chosen a Community Outreach service model. This means:

Access is only available through a specialist NHS weight management service (WMCOS). This is not currently operating at present.

Patients must be clinically assessed to determine eligibility.

Only those meeting strict NHS criteria (including certain BMI and health conditions) will be offered treatment.

Please do not book a GP appointment just to request Mounjaro.

Your GP will not be able to prescribe it outside of the community specialist pathway.

For more details, visit the official Suffolk and North East Essex ICB website.

Introducing the Primary Care Network - PCN

Primary care networks (PCNs) are groups of practices working together to focus local patient care. Framfield House has been working for some time with other local practices to employ additional staff to improve and expand services for our patients. We already have a team of pharmacists, patient coordinators, physiotherapists, mental health professionals and a paramedic. We envisage PCNs to be an important part of the care that we offer for the foreseeable future.
