Like other surgeries, it can sometimes appear difficult to get an appointment with the GP you ask for, at your preferred time. Despite this we aim to offer appointments for patients who need to be seen on the day as well as for those who wish to book ahead.
There are three ways to make an appointment at our Surgery:
Patients who request “same day” appointments are deemed to be in need of immediate, urgent or emergency care. If you phone up asking to be seen that day, our receptionists may ask you for some information about your condition as these appointments are mainly for immediate and necessary cases, as detailed above, rather than for routine check-ups and are only for our registered patients and are by appointment only,
Patients who choose to pre-book appointments usually have routine or non-life threatening conditions.
We provide patients with a variety of appointments - book in advance to see a GP, book on the day to see a GP, nurse practitioner or nurse prescriber, telephone appointments with a GP, extended hours appointments with a variety of clinicians and urgent emergency appointments each morning and afternoon.
The book on the day appointments are available by telephone at 8am and we therefore recommend you phone the surgery as soon after this as possible. We also offer appointments bookable online for the following day and prior to 8am to cater especially for patients who are unable to call the surgery at 8am.
The demand for routine appointments bookable in advance with your registered GP often exceeds the number of appointments available. The GP's prefer you to see your registered GP as this ensures continuity of care. Urgent medical conditions will always be seen on the day but this may not be with your registered GP.
We also offer telephone appointments which suit certain medical conditions and some patients and these can also be booked on the day or in advance by our receptionists.
The surgery also offers appointments with Catriona, Jenni or Lorraine ,who are our Advanced Nurse Practitioners who are highly skilled to treat undiagnosed, undifferentiated problems and prescribe medications.
We offer appointments in clinics run by our qualified Nurse Practitioners, Catriona McCallum, Jenni Ball and Lorraine Bryes. They work closely with our doctors and are able to assess, review and treat a wide range of conditions and are able to prescribe medication.
If you cannot keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can offer it to another patient.
